トチュウゴム(TPI)は硬質で熱可塑性があり樹脂やエラストマーと近似。TPIは乳管細胞に蓄積しており、パラゴムノキと同程度の含有量(果皮30%)にもなる。イソペンテニル2燐酸(IPP)のアリル基質への連続的な縮合重合反応(重合度102-104)により生成すると考えられる。

- Eucommia ulmoides Oliver
- トチュウ科 トチュウ(杜仲) gutta-percha tree; Chinese gutta-percha; Chinese rubber tree; totyu; hardy rubber tree 一属一種、中国原産の落葉高木。葉は楕円形で先が尖り、光沢のある暗緑色で垂れる。全草にグッタペルカと呼ばれる樹液（トランス型イソプレン; TPI）が含まれ、トチュウゴムと称する。葉は杜仲茶にされる。
