キク科 オオアザミ;マリアアザミ St.Mary's thistle; blessed Nary's thistle; Our Lady's thistle; holy thistle; milk thistle 多年草。深裂し刺の多い、白い大理石模様の入った濃緑色の葉がロゼットを作る。夏～初秋、直立した茎にアザミのような濃紫紅桃色の頭花が咲く。観賞用や薬用にされる。
