[edit] Production
Pomegranate is native to Iran[1]. India and Iran are the two major producers (1,100,000 tonnes in India and 700,000 tonnes in Iran[2]). The fruit contains many seeds: 40-100 g/kg of fruit weight, and it is the good source of polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), including the 18:3(n-5) punicic acid, a conjugated linolenic acid (CLA).
